Almost had to clean out me’ pants after paying close to $4 per gallon for gas:
I remember when a time when I could fill up my Crown Vic for under $40. Stuff like this is why I have to drink first thing in the morning. :S

I save between 5% and 10% off the pump price just by using credit cards and buying gift or gas cards at the gas stations
February 20, 2013 at 10:17 pm #503546I have a card that saves me 5% on gas purchases… but we all know at the end of the day the credit card company gets their money in other ways.
February 21, 2013 at 12:33 am #503620Not from me. Banks don’t pay interest so I make it off the credit cards (it’s tax free too)
February 21, 2013 at 2:16 am #503650Yeah gas prices are sickening now a days. We’re at $1.30/liter here ($4.91/gal), I have to burn premium in my truck which is $1.40/liter last time I filled it up ($5.30/gal). It was $120 to fill it from 1/4 tank. And mine is the short box with the smaller 26gal tank.
February 21, 2013 at 7:36 am #503771A few ways to save money on gas is to use your vehicle more efficiently.
1)Plan your trips so you don’t have to drive back and forth.
2) Keep your tires properly inflated at all times.
3) Remove any unnecessary weight from your vehicle.
4) Keep up your vehicle mechanically sound at all times.
February 21, 2013 at 8:18 am #503781I have a question about step #3, will this involve removing ex-my wife from the vehicle..?

Better hope your wife doesn’t see this! 😛
March 5, 2013 at 12:34 am #506242LPG we call Propane. Propane and Gasoline honestly cost about the same per gallon in the United States.
Last time I filled up my #20 (20 pound) BBQ grill tank, it required bout 4.5 gallons of propane… it was just under $15.
There is LESS BTUs per gallon of Propane than Gasoline, so in the United States, Gasoline (petrol) is more economical than Propane for automobiles as far as I know… Propane is a bit cheaper delivered to a home though… Don’t know why your fuel prices are so darned high… they are almost always twice as expensive as ours. Hell, BP (British Petroleum) sells it to us for under $4/Gallon, yet you guys can’t get it for less than about $8.
Must be some taxes and other B.S. going on.

March 5, 2013 at 5:12 am #506336Hey guys, let me cheer you up on gas prices!
Wanna know the current price of gasoline right now here in italy?
It starts around 1.80 euros per liter peaking out around 1.95, that is from 8,85 US dollars/gallon to 9.5 dollars/gallon (ARGH!) :S
By the way here in italy LPG (we call it GPL) costs about half of that, it’s around 0.85 euros for a “liter” which is around 4.2 dollars for a gallon
Also, I’m curious , how much does it cost in other countries to convert a gasoline car to LPG?
Don’t worry, be happy! 😉

March 5, 2013 at 5:26 am #506339Oh, about lower energy contents of LPG, here in italy there are various possible conversions from gasoline to LPG, and the newest give equal fuel consumption to when using gasoline.
It’s called “Phased sequential gaseous injection” (hope to have translated it ok :silly: ) and it’s the latest technology (up to now and on sale, at least) to put LPG into an engine.
As far as I know there are three styles of LPG:
1) Mixer based: it’s something like a carburettor for LPG; LPG is injected into the intake manifold before it splits , in a continuous stream.
It is the cheapest and less effective conversion in terms of efficiency.
Imagine the air-lpg mix getting around the intake, sucked by the active cylinder with no regulation mechanism, obviously some is wasted in the process.2) Single gaseous injector; a refinement of the latter, with an injector instead of a mixer. The LPG is still being injected in a continuous stream and some is wasted.
3) Phased sequential gaseous injection: it’s something very similar to multipoint injection, in which each cylinder only gets gas injected when and where it’s needed.
I’ve also heard about a Phased sequential LIQUID injection: the trick is the LPG is NOT turned into gas before being injected. This should improve combustion efficiency because the liquid LPG turns into gas in the intake manifold thus subtracting heat and getting a better combustion.
Ok, let’s hear some comments! 🙂

March 5, 2013 at 12:24 pm #506389I get about 34-38 MPG’s on Petrol/gasoline, and 29-33 MPG’s on LPG/Autogas. The conversion with the Prins VSI kit ( supposedly the most reliable) cost me £1500. so not cheep but if you drive enough it certainly works out cheaper in the long run.
@NETWizz
70+% of our petrol/gasolline price is tax though in the UK, I think it might be closer to 80% now. LPG/autogas is taxed at lower rate, more like 40-50%March 5, 2013 at 8:51 pm #506419[quote=”TNT” post=52130]

March 6, 2013 at 12:31 am #506469It’s what progressive governments with a green agenda do ( keep an eye on that president and senate of yours). We’ve had protest and all sorts, so far all that’s happened is they have stooped raising tax on fuel, no sign of winding it back even the tiniest amount.
The press call it the governments “war on the motorist”! Somehow I doubt many Americans will tolerate such things, except in California.
