If your garage was on fire and you could only save one tool from your toolbox, which would you grab first? Personally, I would wheel out my air compressor because it is my most beloved and expensive tool (I have an American made Chicago Pneumatic 26 gallon compressor). How about you?

I have an SK tuff one 3/8 ratchet that’s seen worse things than fires. It was the only tool my old boss didn’t throw away (think I had it my hand at the time and he couldnt’ pry it away) and I had it many years before that. Worked on a gazillion things with, just replaced the pawl inside of it, finish is worn out, its beautiful in its own way. It goes to grave me with (literally). When I am dead people can overbid for my snap-on tools on Ebay for, but my SK rachet is MINE !

One? Dang… that’s tough. I’d probably have to say the antifreeze tester my dad gave me from the 70s. I doubt it’s replaceable.

From the 70s ? What brand is it ? I think I used to have a Balkamp, which was Napa’s brand back then. Don’t know where it ever went.

Would you consider trading your tester for this one ?

The brand name is long worn off of it. All I know is, it’s all rubber and glass construction with lead used inside.

And to the trade…hell no! What is that thing? Lol…they don’t makem like the one I have anymore.

As a young boy when I was learning about cars, the tester I have was what my dad showed me my first antifreeze check ever with. The sentimental value is so strong, I don’t even know why I use it professionally.

If it looks a lot like a turkey baster i have those as well. One for coolant and One for Batteries.

The one tool I can’t live without for sentimental reasons is my dad’s 1/2″ Drive Round head 1970’s fine tooth quick release Craftsman ratchet with knurled turning knob.

I have a Snap-on pipe wrench that is probably the only pipe wrench that is actually worth having. None of the others work in my opinion. Wouldn’t give it up.

Lol yeah mine is very similar to that not exactly the same but very close. I will have to see who mine is made by. Mine doesn’t have the ridges though.

I stand corrected Chevyman21 my coolant one does have the ridges. The battery and mini battery testers do not.

I’m of the belief that anything made back in the day is better made than anything today. Craftsman as another example.

There are a lot of beloved tools in my garage, but if there’s one thing that deserves being saved above everything else it’d be my old Thorsen 3/8″ ratchet set made back when they were still produced in the US. That was my first and only set of tools for years as I was growing up learning about cars and it taught me that there’s no limit to what you can do with a medium sized ratchet and a good set of sockets

and using Snap-on ratchets turn work in to play they are so nice.

Easy. Snap-on Vantage Pro. That thing has made me so much money, and saved me from pulling out my hair.
