Today I got your newsletter concerning your two week vacation. I just want to say thanks again for everything you have done for me. My automotive skills continue to improve, you have taught me so many things. I have realized that I don’t want to work for anyone ever again. I run my own Junk Removal Service and I am getting by. Mechanic tools are quite expensive especially when you don’t have a lot of money to go around. However my tool collection has grown significantly. All I do is to take the tools that I find during Junk Removal and I put them into my collection. From Junk Removal I have(FREE DIDN’T PAY FOR):

1960’s -1970’s SNAP ON TOP/ BOTTOM TOOL CHEST
      100’S OF SOCKETS 3/8, 1/2,1/4 SAE & METRIC
      SHOP VICES
      VICE GRIPS
      WRENCHES ALMOST 100 RANGING FROM 5MM – 24MM
      SCREW DRIVERS ALMOST 100
      3 hammers

I have turned not having enough money for tools into a virtue.

drthrift035, thats quite the collection of tools you have found. Did you say that people threw them in the junk? Man times most be tough when people are dumping semi-used tools to make a few bucks.

I’m right there with you, straight out of earning a BA, needing work and so money’s tight. What i’ve done is buy alot of tools over the years and also combine my tools with everyone else’s in the nearby family, in a lend program. So together with a electrician, carpenter, mason and a bunch of in between supplies we pretty much have every tool for the job. Just have to go over and ask “nicely” to borrow some of the big stuff like the compressor. lol.

To be honest… I never would of done any of this without Eric. So I’m right there with you drthrift035, *raises glass* here’s to Eric, a very inspiring guy.

Thanks very much for that guys I really appreciate it. The best part about those tools that you found is if they are name brands they have a lifetime warranty so if some are rusty or broken you may be able to exchange them for new.

I too have had to make due and luckily ETCG has been a success, it really was a bootstrap affair and I also used existing resources to make it happen. My proudest achievement though is helping people like you get by, it really feels like I’m giving back and I think that is an important thing so thanks for your message and for your kind words. Good luck with your endeavors and of course stay dirty.

Eric has taught us all, ‘like a boss’. His (yours, if you read this Eric) insights and passion for the business renewed my own dying passion for the business when I was midway through my certificate program at my local community college. His aforementioned passion not only got me through that ‘dead spot’ in my education, but pushed me on to a degree. I’m now less than two months from completing my Associates of Applied Science/Automotive Technology degree. I have an 11 month old son, and I hope to give the same desire for knowledge and ability to conquer the ‘machines’ to my son as a gift that he will have for the rest of his life. If nothing else, we will have lots of fun getting dirty together, unless he doesn’t want his first car to run 🙂

Eric has done me a huge favor just by restoring my faith in humanity again. I started tuning in when I was believing that “all people are mean”, then I met Eric where my first impression of him was a sane voice in a crazy world and someone who actually cares enough to reach out and help a bunch of people he has never met. Then I met all you guys on this forum and all of you guys are just simply AWESOME!!!!

twiggy, you the man! There’s so many people I can say that about on this forum. You know who you are, but twiggy kinda left himself out there, so I had to point him out so he would blush 🙂
