      There are many things I have learned, but still don’t quite know if they are correct. There are jobs I have done that I am not sure of their longevity. This is simply because of my lack of confidence that the information I have received to do a job is correct. Eric you help me get this confidence thank you.
      Now on to the post.
      All of us have projects we want to do and some of us just have things that need to be done now. If we have time to search the net and read for hours we can learn lots, but there is no comparisons to the pure distilled knowledge in the form of text and videos you get from the experience of great authors and teachers. Eric I consider you a expert that is also a great author and teacher.
      The DIY and up and coming mechanics has so much to pick from when it comes to the mechanical / automotive field. It can be overwhelming to sort through all the different chemicals, bulk hose types, clamps, tools, ect… . The feeling you get when you know you understand something and how to do it right with the correct parts and tools is just invigorating. It is also just a great confidence boost when it all comes to gather.
      below is an outline of topics I had to look up, things I may be fuzzy on, and others are things I would still like to learn. I hope you will do a write up or video on some of them. It may be helpful to some, and very helpful so that I may clarify or update my own understanding. Note I have not read all of your site or seen all of your videos yet. Also where is a good place to look to find the answers to the list below?
      BIG OUTLINE:
      bulk hose (low pressure):
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      vacuum line: *hard line, rubber, **silicone.
      * used around high heat areas and possible oil leaks? what is high heat area, very close to engine exhaust, and lower housing.
      ** silicone: used for high heat areas. some have small walls that will collapse from vacuum look for thick wall hose. oil will destroy it faster than rubber. how long does it take for oil to destroy the hose? if you wipe clean before damage has happened do you need to wash it off?
      how to size vacuum hoses? use old hoses? how?. use micrometer on connector, there are a few types: straight, barbed in stages, straight with a one raised barbed edge. what part do you use to find out size?
      how to properly install vacuum hose? use oil, water, spit, to lube for easy install?
      are emissions vacuum hoses different from regular vacuum hoses? do they need gas barrier hoses?

      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      coolant hose: rubber, *silicone, **”gates green stripe”, formed hose vs using coil hose.
      *silicone used for high heat areas, takes more damage from oil vs rubber. allows more water to pass thru hose wall vs rubber.
      ** green stripe lets less water pass thru hose wall vs silicone and rubber. Last longer than rubber.
      can you restore oil damaged hose? aka being soft and expanded? (ex: no parts available/ $100 formed hose)
      using coil to shape hose vs formed. look out for kinks in hose and rubbing hoses that make holes.
      what clamp to use and how to properly install and tighten.

      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

      fuel: *vapor barrier, **low psi, ***high psi
      *vapor barrier used for emissions lines, PCV???
      ** used for non fuel injected? like what? can some lines in fuel injections use low psi?
      *** used for fuel injected. do all fuel lines in fuel injections need high psi?
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      other low pressure hoses
      *oil lines: transmission fluid, oil, power steering.
      *oil lines are mostly new to me. don’t know the types and what can be used for what.
      *air hose, other types: this is new to me air hose aka shop hose.
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

      High pressure hose
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      (power steering, ac, oil?): you just buy it and replace? can you make them, repair them, other tips?
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      brake line/hose: can be made and fixed. what about rubber lines?
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      Other hose topics: how to cut and install properly.
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      Hose Clamps
      There seems to be tons of clamps. a good over view of clamps, good vs bad and tips on use, install and removal.
      t bolt few different styles
      fuel injection
      constant tension bolt style
      constant tension spring style
      worm drive few styles
      silicone worm drive (has band so no metal holes eat hose)
      strap
      gates power grip clamp
      others?
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

      Chemicals
      oil: the oil run down.
      what’s the difference between brands.
      what about conventional, high mileage, synthetic, etc… .
      do these mess with engine compression? like if you do a compression test with an engine with synthetic vs same engine with conventional of same weight will it change results?
      transmission fluid: different cars use different fluid okay.
      power steering: some cars use trans fluid, some use special fluid.
      bad things happen when things mix?:
      atf in motor oil for cleaning?
      atf mix with dextron?
      synthetic mix with conventional motor oil?
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      how do you feel about additives to oil, fuel, transmission, power steering, coolant?
      oil additives / fuel injector cleaners / octane boosts: Lucas and marvel mystery oil are big names any comments?
      smoke treatments: what do you have to say?

      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      Belt dressings: good or bad?
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

      coolant types: Honda, Toyota, etc… . different colors, dex cool,…….
      lots going on here. care to explain?
      ex: imports don’t really need honda, toyota brand coolant just sulfate free? true?
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      cleaning chemicals: what ones are same or different. some eat/melt plastic.
      throttle body cleaner
      intake cleaner
      carburetor cleaner
      starting fluid: any other uses?
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      topic idea:
      *fuel stabilizer and bad gas.
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      *over view of greases and lubes: what to use and when, what are the differences, what’s the same.
      graphite
      dielectric/electrical grease
      assembly lube
      lithium grease
      marine grease
      wheel bearing grease
      silicone paste
      silicone spray
      anti seize (different types)
      high temp, moly, white, red, red lithium: all the same?
      what to lube up on new and old cars and with what: hinges, locks, actuator, windows, steering wheel, etc…?
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      *over view of glues, adhesives and sealants
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      *over view of gasket makers and sealers: how to use and when to use
      many types of rtv from many manufactures from Honda to permatex.
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
      different types of batteries and battery care: old style and new.
