i just did a Compression test on my Honda, and I am baffled. I had compression different when I started this job, on the old head that was determined to have a crack in it. Strapped for cash, I got a new head (this is a Honda engine, its D15Z1 engine code for a Civic. 1995)

** I got a little mixed up on my phone, but Wet for Cyl #3 was 270, (I was calling Cyl #2 Cyl #3, apologies.)

Makes me just want to throw this back together, and get the D16Z6 it is supposed to have in there…

Take a look-see. Will this engine ever run right? Maybe after it “warms up?” (I re-tapped and threaded the hole that was not clocking off..)

Well, it runs now… Fuel Pump appears not priming and it sounds like a motorcycle, though.

Welcome to my new thread: http://www.ericthecarguy.com/kunena/8-Service-and-Repair-Questions-Answered-Here/61133-1995-honda-civic-1-5l-issues-fuel-and#153118

          Compression returned.

You’re in trouble. The first cylinder jumping from 130 to over 200 points to a piston ring problem. That one cylinder alone is enough abandon all hope.
The next showed zero if I read that correctly and when compression is that low, or non-existent, that means a cylinder head valve problem; unless someone sneaked in during the night and stole the piston…………

                Sorry for the delay

This morning, I got compression to return to:

                1 – 150
                2 – 175
                3 – 165
                4 – 170

                It was valves.

Those numbers are still too low and have too far a spread for a Honda. I suspect if a wet compression test was performed the numbers would jump up and that would signify a ring problem.

Since some valves were apparently tight I might ask how many miles were put on it in that condition before the valves were readjusted? A few miles is one thing; 50 miles or whatever could be another matter altogether and especially if exhaust valves were involved.

It was definitely just a few miles, I drove it from a “shop” that was not reassembling things right. Jersey City to Uptown Bayonne was literally like 3 miles. Unskilled “mechanics.” I still need to look at hose routing, check screws, re-work sensors, connect sensors properly..

Here is what it is doing now, I have the cap off to bleed air out, and also for the reason of still figuring what hose goes where, etc:

I just ran into one of my former co-worker homies, and they:

                        1. (Seem to have) FIXED THE IDLE. IACV electrical connector was not plugged in…

                        2. Told me my “Distributor was too far advanced,” told me how to adjust it, demonstrated by letting me hear a “pop” sound when revving, told me that I should adjust it soon because it can damage the motor.

                        Nice…
