So, I was at factory training the other day and was told of a couple of events in which the dealership passed the buck to the technician because of a mistake or mishap. That the dealership refused to stand behind the technician and basically the technician ended up being sued in the end, bankrupting them.
Is there any places that offer individual liability insurance we can buy for ourselves if our dealerships are now passing the risk to us?

If your dealership doesn’t stand behind you & are starting to pass on the risk to you I would leave there asap. Work at another dealer or might as well do your own thing and start your own shop if your going to be taking all the risk.
This is ALL dealerships, not mine or just mine. These are stories from the instructor at the factory class, who is affiliated with all dealerships in the area, telling us what he is seeing happening on a large scale in the industry.
So, coming to a dealership near you in the future.
Well that stinks. It Hasn’t happen up here yet in the seacoast of NH. Hopefully it won’t come to that point either because then they won’t be having much of a service department when all the techs walk out. lol
Only heard of this happening when it comes to an injury or death caused by a major failure from the mechanics work and actions taken on whatever they worked on.

Felt like adding i live in Canada and suing isn’t as big here as it is in the states. Also most companies will stand by their employees if they are doing their job and not messing with the customer on purpose.
I think it might be time to look for a new job, seems lately work has had you stressed and down. shouldn’t have to put up with this sort of bullshit.I am looking, believe me that. Most places aren’t hiring during the winter slow down, plus when push came to shove they finally bumped my pay.
