      Yesterday was the big day

Before i get started, here how it went down.

I was supposed to go flat rate next week. I’ve been there three months. 6 years active duty, bachelors in mechanical engineering, and 3 years experience on my own car and classes.

We hired a tired guy that has been doing tires for 6 years. He’s been with us a month. Literally just tires.

Keep in mind we are a car dealership, new cars.

He was pushed to flat rate and I’m kept hourly. So I work 40, easily turn 60-70 and my hours go into a pool. I still get 40 hour pay checks but 0 flag hours.

While the four other techs get the benefit of my flag hours.

Keep in mind I’m hourly, I sip lunnch, and take what ever work I am given. And after one time I have it stored in my memory.

The tire guy that became a tech takes 2 hour lunches, smokes on lunch and I’m not talking marlboro. Spend the morning bs’s while I do 6 oil changes at once.

And they think this plan will work……,..

Yeah we get the team pay treatment at my dealership as well. Lucky for me my team leader keeps it light and fun but when it’s time to get down we all pump out hours and get work done, can’t say that for my friend on another team I’ve heard nightmare stories of dudes just slacking and taking advantage of the hourly guys

I would not be surprised if in the future the pay plan is revamped again; and probably not to your advantage.

Someone has to fund the owner’s beachfront home and vacations to Cancun.

I’m not sure how it could be much worse for me brother. I’m an hourly tech, not flat rate. I was supposed to be flat rate next week. But now every job I do and flag hour I spit out goes to the Soviet republic of the team pay….

I can’t work over 40 hours, and if I turn 70 flag hours, I get paid 40 hours.

I’m an hourly guy, and I was told another less qualified tech was given flat rate because I would be “trained” om numerous different things,

Let me guess “training” half the time means doing everything and everyone else sitting around? Sounds similar to some of the stories I’ve heard. Team pay just like communism only works in a perfect world, sadly this world is anything but. Trust me I’m Cuban I’ve experienced communism first hand.

Like I said in the original thread, Comunisim. The good techs are going to leave, and lets see how the shop functions with people like said oil/tire changer. I hope the owner/GM fires the service manager.

The SM was trying to find a way to “make right” for the driveability techs without actually paying more out of his pocket.

                      Good deal moving to hyundia.

Just start calling your boss things like Ho Chi Min, Red, Stalin, Chairman Mao, Lenin, The Marxman, etc.
