If you just bought the car and it’s been less than 30 days take it back. That engine should NOT make that noise and if you just bought the car it’s not worth fixing something like that. I don’t think it’s VTEC but perhaps the timing chain either way don’t mess with it because it will be more trouble and expense that you really don’t want to have to deal with on a new car. It’s VERY important that you only use the oil that is listed on the oil cap and keep it topped off, if that engine runs low on oil the timing chain will wear and cause problems.

          Thanks Eric

I already asked them if they could fix it or take it back and they said no. apparently my mom signed something that said she was buying it “as is” I guess its our own stupid fault.

They changed the oil when we bought it. So I would assume they used honda oil since its a honda dealer. and i checked the level and its perfect.

just buy doing a quick search its a very commen problem. along with the rear brakes my neighbor menchened.

I was just wondering if I could get away with it. but I guess if its not getting oil (assuming thats what I’m hearing) that cant be good.

That sucks. Don’t assume they used the correct viscosity oil as the dealer where I used to work the techs were so lazy they only oil they ever used came out of the tap, so even if the vehicle took 5W20 everything got 10W30 no matter what.

This video on oil pressure should give you some idea of what’s going on which is I suspect worn out engine parts perhaps the timing chain, I think what’s happening is it’s taking some time for the oil to reach the top of the engine and as a result you’re getting metal to metal contact till the oil pressure builds up.
