I just watched your excellent 5 or so year old video on replacing front rotors and reinstalling inner and outer tapered roller bearings. Very well done. I do have a question regarding the part where you emphasize the importance on not tightening the axle nut at the end of assembly. My shop manual for my car (1985 Nissan 300ZX Turbo) indicates it should be torqued to 20 ft-lbs. I think you’ll agree that’s a bit more than just snug. Another YouTube video (doing another model car) also makes the point of tightening just enough to snug the nut, but no more. So basically I’m a bit concerned as to how tight I should make it … any suggestions? I’m going with aftermarket Timkens SET2 and SET6 bearings.

Service manual procedures should always be considered over generalities. Do what your vehicle-specific manual recommends.
