Well, I guess it is good that Eric did a suspension diagnosis video (which I watched fully) this week. Too bad all those steps have yet to yield me a diagnosis on my issue.

      Car Information:

      1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX
      Turbo
      All Wheel Drive
      5 Speed

      Issue:

Park the car and put the e-brake up, but leave it out of gear. Return to the car and upon trying to come out of gear (be it 1st or reverse) the first few times driving it since it was parked, there is resistance, not a lot but similar to that of trying to come out of your car with the e-brake up. There also is sometimes a click/pop noise from the rear upon acceleration (mainly on an upward slope) or coming to a stop. Just one click/pop, not multiples. A few times I heard what sounded like brake pads dragging.

Issue has not yet presented itself if I park the car and put it in gear, but leave the e-brake off.

This lead me to believe that my e-brake pads were not disengaging properly. Jacked the car up got the wheels and rotors off and inspected the e-brake assembly, pulled the handle and then released it, and everything seems to be functioning properly.

I have no idea what is causing this, doing Eric’s methods of checking has lead me to nothing. My new concern now, it being AWD, is that my rear differential may be locking up. Though it doesn’t seem to present any real relevant symptoms. There is also no whining that I can hear coming from the differential.

Anything you guys can suggest I try or look into would be appreciated.

I seen worn inboard CV Joints make a click/clunk off acceleration. Center drive shaft U Joints that has play can cause noise. Remove the center drive shaft and test drive it. About the dragging. Has your gas mileage decrease since it started dragging or stayed the same.
