So this is very dumb, basic question that I do not understand.
Lets say I am replacing struts.
I see videos where people will lift the vehicle, put it on jack stands, then remove the jack and put it under the control arm to “support the suspension”.
Can someone tell me what can happen if you DON’T “support the suspension”? Does doing this give me some kind of advantage when doing the repair?
Why do you need to “support a suspension”? Can it fall off or something?
