I was doing a valve cover gasket and valve adjustment on my cousins ’96 Integra LS and I realized when I was getting ready to reinstall the valve cover that I had no more Hondabond. All I had was Super High Tack Gasket Sealant. I usually use it to keep gaskets in place but being I didn’t have any silicone based sealers I used it in the corners of the valve cover gasket. Anyone think this will be a problem as far as leaks go? It’s easy enough to just pull the valve cover off and add some Hondabond, I just want to know if this is necessary.

If you used a few dabs should be ok.

The only place that should get any kind of sealant is at the corners on the cam ‘humps’. Do NOT coat the gasket with sealant before installation. The type of sealant used isn’t that important as you only use a very small amount.

Awesome. You had to see the amount of RTV I had to remove from the cylinder head, valve cover and spark plug wells from the last guy who did it. It seems alright still. I’ll take your word for it. You never let me down before.

I’m happy to help. The misuse of RTV is one of my biggest pet peeves. I call those people ‘cake decorators’.
