I could not find any info that pertained on your Noise section. The veh is a 94 Dakota 3.9L 140K miles. Clean, no leaks and seemingly well taken care of.
The noise I hear is when the motor is cold and I am climbing a big hill about 1/4 mile away from home. As I hit the steeper part and am increasing speed from 35 up to 55 I get a valve or lifter noise (Tappet?) and there is not the power I should be getting coming from the peddle even if I hit the OD button to kick it down. I assume the loss/lack of power is associated. The noise is loud enough to hear in the closed cab with the radio at normal level.
It doesn’t happen at any other time so I can;t get close enough to pinpoint the exact location of the source/ From inside the cab I say its in the valve train.
I also saw on another site some mention of a valve noise issue TSB from June 27, 1997 that called for a new timing chain and tensioner. I’m hoping that aint it.Thanks and anyone who has confronted this please let me know how you resolved it.
