Stuck Clutch fan nut

I have a 97 mountaineer with a 5.0 v8. I sprung a large coolant leak from the timing cover and have decided to replace the gasket and WP. However, i cant get the _____(insert favorite cuss word here) fan off. I got the tool from advance auto and it is junk, just rounding over the bolt. Has anyone tried another method on this engine?

Not certain what auto zone offers in the way of tooling for this specific job.
But according to FORD: these are what is required

I believe the nut is 1-7/8
The other tool is meant to encase the 4 mounting flange nuts.
I’m thinking you should be able to insert a long screw driver or pry bar to lock the water pump pulley and remove the nut.
