I was changing the rear struts on wifey’s car this last weekend . HF had the spring compressor on sale the previous week . I was using the spring compressor .

It seemed the spring compressor would work better , about half the time , upside down . But when I did that , the hex head of the bolt was up against the top plate where I could only , barely , get a open end wrench on it .

I got some extra hex nuts and double / jam nutted the opposite ( threaded ) end of the bolt . That way I could use my new , on sale HF electric impact wrench on either end of the ” bolt ” .

      God bless
      Wyr

If you are referring to the clam shell style strut spring compressor I have the same one. I also modified mine and mounted it to a plate that attaches to a shop cart. makes changing struts pretty easy once the strut assembly is off the car.
