Went to change out the plugs in my Impala this evening and last plug in back moved w/o applying any torque and the tip was missed up….not a good sign. Spins in place will not tighten or loosen. My dad (a mechanic for many years) does not have any ideas.

Only thing I can think of doing is using a ton of super glue in the spark plug socket and using an extension pulling out while turning it out.

      Suggestions???

Randomguy- funny you should mention that. I just logged into the forum to solicit Eric’s feedback on the Time Sert thread repair bushings. They sell kits for not only spark plugs, but also oil pans etc. According to the Honda service manual, this is the recommended fix for stripped threads. You should check them out. A little pricey, but this is a precision fit and a high quality product as far as I can tell.

Eric – your stripped oil pan video recommends a longer bolt as the only fix besides replacing the pan. I implemented your longer bolt solution two weeks ago and the result is nearly perfect. Very minor pooling on crush washer after two weeks, but I may have under torqued it for fear of stripping the remaining threads on which the longer plug is grabbing. What are your thoughts on Time Sert as a lasting solution?
