As the title states, I have stripped my bleeder screw. I used the recommended size hex bit socket and it just would not turn and ended up rounding the hole out. I have tried to move up a size and it will not fit. The screw is not high enough up to grab it with channel locks. What would be the best option to remove it?

Use a metric/SAE conversion table or chart to find the 1 size smaller, and tap it on with a hammer. If you used metric, switch to standard and vice versa.

It’s always worked for me. Good luck.

It sounds like you need a proper extractor (set). Like this one:

If you do go that route, you will also need a new plug. Use an impact driver or some other ‘impact’ device if you have one.

Or you could head to your local wrecker and get the whole thermostat housing.

Cut a slot with heck saw, then place a flat chisel on it and hammer to turn it in counter clock direction. You can also do this with air hammer with right attachment.
