I have an 07 Mazda 3 with 94,000k on it. This noise happens ONLY when I go quickly over small bumps or over something like gravel. It’s a metal on metal clanking noise coming from the passenger side front wheel area. I’ve jacked up that part of the car and the tire doesn’t move at all, so I don’t think it’s a tie rod and the brakes seem good, although the tire nuts are completely overtorqued and I can’t get them off to have a closer look. I’ve put the car up on ramps and tried to bounce it up and down to get it to make the noise with no luck.
Any suggestions for what it might be would help narrow down my search parameters.

Ok, there’s the rod that goes from the connection in the picture I attached to another connection with the strut near the top. Both of those bushings look toast, they’re all floppy and don’t seem to be doing much BUT I’ve looked on upteen diagrams and can’t tell what that rod is called or what bushings it needs.
Total noob question, but I could use some help here.
If you are talking about the thing in the center, it should be the sway bar link… They should not be floppy, they should be tight, as well the bushings should all be solid. If you move the links and all and hear metal on metal, they are really bad…
This will cause noise when you go over a bump…
