what type of vehicle? did you use a clutch alignment tool? either way, yer gonna have to drop the tranny to see what’s up, obviously, not releasing.

So if I read you correctly, you swapped out an automatic for a manual transmission? If that’s the case and you’re now having problems, I recommend you go back over your work and see if anything is loose or broken. You may have to remove the transmission to inspect the throw out bearing and pressure plate. To me it sounds like it could be a linkage or pressure plate issue. I suppose the throw out bearing could also be an issue. More info in this article.

it had a 4 speed type E manual that was making a noise due to bad bearing i put in a toyota p51 5 speed with adapter kit to get rid of the noise and get a overdrive i changed the thrust bearing new clutch plate new spigot bearing only thing i didnt change was the pressure plate witch i suspect might be the colpret but i don’t get why it would only do it when the motor is runing and im also not lossing grip when the clutch is disengaged

its a 79 ford escort panelvan it has the same motor as a pinto 2.0L i didn’t use a clutch alinment tool but the gearbox went on witch i would only do if it was close enuff and once you press the clutch pedal the plate will align its self and i looked up the inner and outer diamiters of the spigot in the toyotas and escort to get the correct inner and outter diamiter

Still, anytime you modify something you run the risk of running into problems like this. Personally, I never change a clutch without changing the pressure plate as well. I’m not saying that’s what your problem is, but it’s suspect. That said, it’s likely you’re going to have to remove the transmission and inspect all the parts to make sure they are working correctly.

                Keep us posted.

i removed the gearbox and it was because the shaft that the thrust bearing is on had dry grease so i cleaned it then regreased it and while it was of i put in a heavy duty clutch in and now its better than ever
