Ok Eric, i have a good one for you. Here’s the scenario. This has been an on going issue for me for almost 2 years.

When I hold the steering wheel straight (12 O clock) everything’s ok, but when I let it go the steering wheel slowly turns to the 1 o clock position steering the vehicle to the right.

Also, when I run into a hump, hole on the road (quite normal in the Philippines) without my hands on the wheel it just steers right 100% of the time. Never have I experienced once that it steered to the left.

So far, the Nissan techs said that it was a rack n pinion problem and replaced the whole assembly just to end up with the same problem. Balljoints are all good. Alignment was done and all are within spec in fact here’s a photo that I’ve took just yesterday.

Any good idea(s) on why this is happening to my Nissan Frontier truck….

        A few tthings..

Ensure the tires are at proper psi

Try a different road to test it on… road condition can effect this.

Get an alignment from someplace else…

        All the best..

Try switching the tires around or if you can, try another set of tires. Preferably of a different brand.

I don´t know what you are running, but cheaper brands tend to vary quite a bit in quality and friction, although they should be the same.

I steer clear of brans like Hankook, Bridgestone ( never had good experience with Bridgestone) and other cheaper brands. If you want to avoid any hazzle, go with Michelin, Pirelli and Continental. Maybe BF Goodrich since they are owned by Michelin, but they aren´t widely used here in Denmark.

Using michellin highway terrain tyres. All running at 32 psi. Dine swapping, rotating still ended up with the same problem

Has this vehicle been in a wreck? Sometimes after a wreck (even when fixed) cannot be aligned with a computer setup…

I´m sorry that I´m not familiar with this particular model, but I assume it´s a 4 wheel drive ?

Have you checked the driveshafts ? The outer knuckles could be the culprit if they have a “sticky” spot. It may be a a longshot, but when all else is eliminated….

4×2 model. What does the outer knuckle looks like.
