I just replaced my power steering fluid. My car uses an electric PS pump.

I did it by disconnecting the return hose and then turning the steering wheel lock to lock with the car off (key was turned 1 click). I bled the system with the wheels up and then again with the wheels on the grass.

Occasionally, when driving, whilst turning the steering wheel will shake – the wheel isnt fully turned – doing say a 110deg turn. Is this because there is more air in the system? I tried to bleed it out again with the wheels on grass but the fluid level didnt seem to drop.

If there is more air, will the system continue to bleed as I drive/turn? The reservoir cap can be on for it to be bled?

Also, a separate thing, I noticed when the wheels were up in the air and I was bleeding that the wheels will shake when close to full lock – is this normal?

      thanks!

Did any of these symptoms happen before the ps fluid change?
what make, model and engine size? Was the correct fluid used?
also check the return line connection that got removed.may be
sucking air. The wheels may be shaking from the pump not creating
a solid flow of hydraulic pressure.

if there was a problem with the pump before you changed the fluid, i would question if the pump was bad.

If the vibration was there before you changed the fluid it could be a pump issue as suggested. If it happened after then there may still be air in the system.
