      See my video

The steering joint (per honda manual) is loose where I can move it up and down with my hand as well. When I had my car about 30k miles they replaced the entire steering column for a click noise and i’m at 100k now and i’ve had this noise for a while… probably can’t get away with a free fix.

I’ve read to just keep my wheel locked and secure it with a seat belt if I remove the steering joint to buy a new one.

Problem is I don’t know where to find the part by itself online… They only sell the entire steering assembly!

I’m not sure where to find this part. I can find 2005 parts that look the same but not sure

My suggestion is to either call or stop by a local Honda
dealership and go to the parts dept. They will tell you
what parts can be bought or the assembly. Yes you are right
about having the wheels and steering wheel straight when removed.

Well called them up and they only sell the entire steering column assembly for $350.. I know the labor would probably be crazy. I could buy the entire assembly for $250 online and maybe do it all myself or some way buy the part individually and hopefully its just a steering joint issue. The instructions don’t look too bad but I’ve been in sticky situations doing things on my own!

Basically the steering joint is turning on its own without engaging the lower end. So its loose but all the bolts are tight.

I don’t know if new parts is what you need. By the way it looked in the video it looks like the wrong bolts are installed. The correct bolts are shanked. You might consider removing the bolts and inspecting them for wear. If they’re worn, then they’re likely not the correct fasteners. The correct fasteners are shanked and help locate the assembly as well as hold it in place.

I’ll try that. Do you guys think there’s any point chasing this down? Does it need to be fixed or should I just live with it? Here’s another video showing the slack with just using my finger to move it. Steering joint loose: http://youtu.be/ZehMaedbPsQ
