Hey guys new to the forum here. My question is I have an 07 honda fit and needed to change the wheel hub on it. So I talked to a few ppl and they all said I would have to do the bearing as well. My problem being I don’t have any of those tools. So I decided to go te junkyard and pick up a steering knuckle with a goodhub and bearing. NNow is there anything that I should do like I know to put grease on the outboard Cv shaft and where the shaft and bearing meet. Is there anything else I should do or be aware of. Thanks in advance for any help

your also going to need an alignment once your done
well maybe not necessarily but its probably a good idea
Actually you shouldn’t need an alignment when you’re done. The only alignment angle that’s adjustable on that car is toe and since all you’re doing is removing the tie rod from the knuckle it should not effect the alignment. It’s not a bad idea to check the alignment, but not necessary. BTW, the best time to do an alignment is after you get a new set of tires. So if it will be a while before you do that, you might save your money and wait till then.
You might have also considered removing the knuckle and hub and taking it somewhere to have the parts switched over. This could have saved you some labor cost. That said, your method will work just fine if the bearing in the new knuckle is good.

Thank you ericthecarguy. Is there a way to check the bearing while it off the car to make sure it’s good. It rotates without a problem smoothly and doesn’t make any noise? Thanks again in advance
Honestly, that’s almost impossible to tell until you get the weight of the vehicle on it. You can check it for obvious damage but that’s about it.

Eric when I hold the knuckle and spin the hub should it spin easily or should you have to spin it. Like if I spin it and let go it will stop, however if I maintain spinning with my hand it will spin. Now also if a grab the hub and move it side to side like a tire as in tie rod check the is a little movement not alot but a little. Should I replace the bearing or do u think these things are normal. Thanjs again in advance
I’m not exactly clear on what you’re asking. Once installed, there should be no play from the bearing. You need to install it to check it.

Basically it has to be installed in order to check it. I was just doubke checking to see if byvthe way it moves off the vehicke could i see if it were good. Thanks again i just didnt want to put it in and have ro take it off again to replace the bearing.
