For all those new DIY if your looking to pick up some tools then i would defently sugest going to auto zone. they have 175 pc mechanic kits. for around $100 but there constantly going on sale for 79.99. i bought one about a year and a half ago it was a great neck brand. it has served me well. out of all the repairs ive had to do about 75-80 percent of time the kit had the tool i needed. they come with wrenches and sockets both metric and and sae. 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drive sockets as well extensions, alan wrenches, a screwdriver with a set of flat head, philips head, stared, and hex bits. this is a great starting kit. right now the auto zone near my house is selling a duralast kit for 79.99. walmart also tends to have similar kits.

I just picked up a 140pc Stanley Black Max tool kit from Costco, it has 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch sockets in metric and SAE. Also comes with Allan wrenches for the socket driver, screw drivers, 2 spark plug sockets, and open end wrenches. Best of all is laser etched sockets so I can easily see what size I’m grabbing,

          Cost was $69.

Costco often hasbig brand name sets for great prices. I have a 2 ton aluminum floor jack from Costco that was priced right. Costco has a return policy – you can return an item for any reason you like – and they can’t afford to sell sub-standard items. I bought a pressure washer from them a few years ago. It was a few months out of the one-year warranty when an O-ring went bad. Karcher wanted to sell me the whole part for $30. I took it back to Costco and told them that Karcher wouldn’t sell me the O-ring seperately. Full cash refund.
Amazon is another great place for tools.

I would recommend going with a Craftsman set. The quality for what you pay is very good. I have a 300+ pc Mechanics Tool Kit that I bought a few years that has served me very well. It’s always easy replacing hand tools at Sears.

Home Depot’s Husky tools have served me well. Got a ratchet set that I’ve used reliably. The 3/8 to 1/4 adapters don’t take much torque to break. Broke mine using an extender during the making of a video.

                  Home Depot sells Husky
K-Mart and some Walmarts sell Stanley Black & Decker

Both are the same exact tools just FYI and all these tool sets are made in China. You can’t find many American made tools anymore. Try finding a floor jack made in America. It’s harder than you think. Even Snap On and Craftsman floor jacks are now Chinese. Milwaukee? Nope, bought out by the Chinese. There are a few companies in America still making floor jacks. Unfortunately they are probably companies you’ve never heard of. Took me more than 2 hours of online searching until I could find a USA made floor jack.

I’m not saying buying Chinese tools is bad but it’s certainly not helping out economy. Seems like the Chinese have just about cornered the tool market.
