Did you check the battery? First thing you wanna do is make sure the battery is fully charged and working properly. Check the battery cables and make sure they are free of corrosion and tight. Before you go into wiring, start with the simple stuff.
January 9, 2012 at 11:00 am #454760First of all, welcome to the forums!
+1 with the above post.
Start with load testing the battery and making sure that your battery connections are clean of corrosion and tight. Most auto parts stores can test the starting and charging systems of vehicles for free.
Also, if the battery is going ‘dead’ over night or after a few days and the battery tested good, here is a video Eric just published that will aid you as you may and a parasitic load draw on the battery with the key off.

January 9, 2012 at 11:00 am #454761I agree one thing at a time and when dealing with a starting issue like yours checking the battery is step 1. Here is a video that might help you.

As for the ignition switch I’m not entirely clear on what issues you were having but it sounds like you might have 2, a mechanical issue with the lock cylinder and an electrical issue. These 2 are separate and since you already replaced the lock cylinder perhaps you might also want to replace the electrical portion as this is a known problem on those vehicles. Once you have done all that is listed above check back and let us know your progress and we’ll take it from there.
January 10, 2012 at 11:00 am #454762dreamer and tony thanks for the info guys honestly i just change the battery week ago as my dad requested it..and also i already tested it so i know its working good…as i said the car has starting and everything when i turn the ignition on to start position and all the light warning sign and the gauge cluster supposed to be on when i turn the ignition on position.
erick i was gonna change the whole assembly but its expensive and i know my dad doesnt have that much money anyways haha so i just change the lock cylinder just in case it works haha..thank you i might try to check on that electrical part portion on the whole assembly hopefully i can find a reference on that lol goodluck for me haha but if you have one its a big help for me.. i keep you guys posted what happen once again thank to your help.
God blessed,
racermike13secJanuary 10, 2012 at 11:00 am #454763I would think about replacing the electrical portion of the ignition switch as Eric pointed out, they are a known problem area.
January 10, 2012 at 11:00 am #454764thanks again ill keep u guys posted………
January 10, 2012 at 11:00 am #454765The electrical portion of the ignition switch is actually the cheapest part and is probably in stock at any Honda dealer because they are such an issue. It’s easy to replace also as it just fastens to the back of the mechanical portion and since you’ve already had it off I’m sure it won’t be that difficult. Keep us posted.
January 10, 2012 at 11:00 am #454766Does the starter actually engage? the post doesn’t seem very clear. The way i diagnosed my starter by myself was to run a jumper wire from the pos battery terminal right to the solonoid. It should turn over. If you leave the key in the “run” or “on” position, you can manually engage the starter with the jumper wire to see if it starts. If it does, then you know you have an issue with the wiring from the starter to the ignition switch.
Hope this helps
January 11, 2012 at 11:00 am #454767birks thanks for advice but i am pretty sure its not related to starter thanks thou..
