I have a ’98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 V8. It has a little over 141,000 miles. I recently noticed that the oil pressure doesn’t come up for 2 or 3 seconds after starting. Is this something I should be worried about? Should I add something to the oil to protect the engine during start up? This only happens when the engine is cold. I’ve seen this before, but only on cars that I wanted to be rid of so I didn’t care. But, I like this one. Otherwise, the old Jeep runs great. It has lots of power, no smoke and no noises.

It’s possible that the oil filter drain back valve is not sealing and empties the filter sitting over night. When you start the engine the filter has to fill with oil before you get pressure.

Try another oil filter. Purolater or Wix. Fram 👿
