 Hello People, I Have A 04 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8t .i just recently did a brake job on it and im hearing a squealing sound. to begin with i first replaced the brake pads cause they were severly thin but not that thin,so i put new pads on with the old rotors to hold me up til today,so i put the new rotors on with the brake pads i got 2 days ago, and they were a little uneven in the middle so i thought i could wear them in to seat properly ,now when i drove the car when im going slow you hear a litte squeaking then i brake it squeaks louder, when i turn left and right while moving you hear a loud squeak again. i greased up all the contact points of where the pads come in contact with the caliper and i greased the back of the pad as well. would this come from the brake pads being messed up or what ? i have no idea whats going on,my mind is boggled at this point,i reffered to online post saying i might have to drive it for atleast 500 miles to get them to not make any noises and go on a road an go 50mph and slam on the breaks a little hard,im just annoyed with this.i took my car to kost tire and auto when i purchased new tires ,they informed me i need a new lower control arm bushing ,which i knew of and heard the sound when turning..and also a ripped cv joint boot which i knew of ,would any of that would affect my brakes squealing when im turning ? i looked and seen my brake dust shields were perfectly fine and didnt come in contact with the rotors! I WOULD APPRECIATE IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME PLEASE!

Thank you for your time -Daniel.

The dust shield on the back of each rotor is easily bent. Remove the wheel and look around the back edge of the rotor, if the dust shield is close, just bend it back.

As stated above the dust shields are easily bent. Barring that, it may just be that the pads are needing to be bed in. When I did the brakes on my Jetta they would groan every time I backed up for about 2 weeks. It did go away though.

My Local napa auto gave me the wrong rotors ,they gave the Outside Diameter 280 instead of 288, so i got new rotors and some new pads and it solved the problem, thanks for all the responses though !
