Squeaky ball joint but no play in wheel

I don’t know for sure if the noise I’m hearing is a ball joint but it’s a squeak sound when going over bumps but doesn’t start till the car has been driven a bit.

Once it starts I can reproduce it by pushing down on the suspension.

I had a mechanic look at it and he said there’s no play at all and it was solid but he only did a wheel wiggle test.

Can a ball joint make noise but not have play? I’m afraid to drive if it is a bad ball joint

My car has the same issue, however I literally replaced the whole front suspension (because in my case everything on the car was broken) turns out the upper strut mount is causing the same sound you are getting. Mine however does it all the time, and not just when its been driven a bit. It also makes a rusty hinge noise when turning the wheel while parked. Everyone says its the ball joint, however mines brand new.

My recommendation: if you have a way to lift and support the car properly:
