Apologies if this topic has been addressed but I don’t see a search function for this forum.
Auto is a 2015 Honda CRV. An apparent parasitic draw will sporadically strike and drain the battery some. 11.5 volts this morning requiring a jump start.
But days or even a week can go by and the car sits overnight but starts fine. I did a parasitic drain test but all I saw was 2 milliamps. I went no further than taking off the negative cable and putting the ammeter leads on the negative post and the loose negative ground cable.
I read elsewhere that the A/C relay might be the problem so I replaced that. New alternator within last two years because of bad diode in previous alternator. Battery is fewer than two years old. It generally reads something like 11.9 volts when the car will start. I think the numerous discharges have reduced its capability to hold a higher charge (12.2 v.). I’ve inspected the car in a totally dark garage and seen no light except the blinking red security light over the radio. Doors firmly closed.
I also read of a problem with the ECU (?) that has required Honda to reprogram it because it sometimes leaves certain circuits or devices “on.” I had the car checked out by a mechanic and he said he couldn’t find any problem though he said he found a Honda service bulletin about problems with the “body control module” with this and similar Hondas. I don’t know where that is and do not know how to test, repair or replace.
Does anyone have an suggestions, please?
