I have an 03 ford taurus v6 and automatic transmission that very occasionally spits up transmission fluid out of the dipstick tube. It is not due to over filling because I pay very close attention to it. The car now has 160,000 miles on it. The problem started several years ago when it only had around 80,000 miles. Tranny fluid would come up out of the dipstick tube and about half a quart would leak out onto the ground. It is only coming from the dipstick tube and only did it when I shut off the engine. It did it about 3 times and quit altogether until now (several years later). Which is why I never worried about it again. Now it has done it twice. I never had to out any more fluid in it since the last time this happened. I have no idea what’s causing it to happen. I’ve heard that there’s a spring in the valve body that can cause this and there’s also a small metal vent tube on the top of the tranny that can get stopped up and not let pressure vent out. Any suggestions will be thoroughly appreciated thanks!!!

Sorry I didn’t see this before:

I think it’s caused by a clogged transmission air vent having a rubber check valve cap occasionally being stuck. I did many of these repairs on the later years (05-07)

I found this in the internet for the fix…it’s easier than me explaining… look about half way down the post…

Let us know if this repairs the problem.

This is exactly what I was thinking as I read this post.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
