I have a 1988 Honda Prelude Si 4WS wiith 5spd manual trans. I got my new replacement (aftermarket, but not reman )CV Axles and the spindle nut on the car ( factory ) is 36mm, but the spindle nut on the replacements is 32mm. Is this gonna be a problem or what?? Didn’t want to start taking the bad ones out now and not have the right parts.
Any suggestions?

My appologies….they are both 32mm. so no problem there. But i do have another question… My honda factory service manual says the manual transmission fluid should be 10w-30 – 10w-40 oil grade SF. I have looked at alot of motor oils but have not seen an SF on back of bottle. Any suggestions if the “sf” has been upgraded to another grade?? Can I use syntec blend or full synthetic and be ok or do i have to have that particular grade?? Also should i replace the oil seal on the tranny when replacing these cv axles??

Do not use regular engine oil in that transmission. I think you’ll find that’s a recommendation to use motor oil if you can’t use regular Honda fluid. There are only 2 things I’ve seen success with in Honda manuals. The first is the factory Honda fluid, the other is GM Syncromesh. Either one will work but I would avoid just using straight motor oil.
