Speedometer light bulb socket test?

      I replaced the light bulb that goes into my speedometer and it still want come on, what is the best way to check the socket to make sure it is live or not?

        A voltmeter or test light should help you out here. You need to check that you have a solid 12 V at the socket when the lights are on. Check from the center lug of the socket to a ground that is not on the actual socket.

        I had a 68 Chevelle that had instrument light problems. Turned out that the screws holding the cluster in were loose, causing a bad ground. I think a bad ground may be an issue here also.

        Are you sure the replacement bulb is good?
