I have a 95 accord ex with a bad speed sensor. My question is will a bad speed sensor cause my engine not to rev over 3500 rpms. I know the sensor is bad cause the cruise control doesnt work nor does the spedo.

It could seeing it does not know the speed right now from the sensor being bad.

It shouldn’t effect engine performance so much as transmission performance. But why not address the known problem and see if it resolves the issue?

I had a faulty speed sensor in my 94 ex. My fuel economy did go down ad mentioned however there was no change in engine behavior. All that happened was the transmission had to guess where to shift and that seemed to be whenever the engine seemed to hit about 2500 or so and that the tcc never really locked

Ok got the new sensor in spedo and cruise work but still wont rev over 3500. Its a f22b2 vtec motor. Ive done a compression check all good there, changed oil and filter, new fuel pump and filter (which were a #$%& to get to), new plugs wires and dizzy.

Probly have a limiter. Speed sensors measures how fast your moving over land not how many rpm’s the engine is doing

F22b2 is not a vtec motor in its original form. Do you have the right ecu. Do you have any codes not illuminating the cel.

My mistake its a f22b1 sohc vtec. No codes are showing even with no speed sensor. I know the cel works cause i can unplug the tps and it will come on

                      Have you checked the cat?
Restricted exhaust will prevent cars from acting right.

Also is your car an auto or manual?
I may have missed that part

I would check your exhaust flow first.
I assume there is no CEL on you said there were no codes.
