I am changing my plugs on my 03 mazda protege.Cross referenced them from Factory Denso to NGK G-power plugs. My ? is the new plug calls for a gap of .44, but the owners manual calls for a plug gap of .28 to .31 I believe.Should I follow the owners manual or follow the NGK gap that is suggested? The G-Power plug has the small tip on the electrode verse the normal one on the Denso plug.thanks

Leave the NGK plug gap as it is and don’t adjust it. I’ve been installing those plugs for years and the only time I’ve had to set a gap is when I dropped one and bent the electrode.

You drop a spark plug, don’t put it in. Man up and buy another one to replace it. How I was taught anyways

its’ best that you checked the gap before installing. use a ‘wire’ gage not the cheap flat type.
the fine center electrodes can be damaged with the flat type.
it is hard to beat NGK plugs.
              life is good
