As some of you may have noticed I haven’t been on the forum as much lately answering your questions. The main reason for this is due to the amount of work I’ve needed to do lately. Mostly that stems from the new camera I got back in November before I went to SEMA. It shoots great video, but the format it shoots in didn’t play nice with the editing software I’ve used for the past 13 years. As a result, I’ve had to purchase new software and learn an entirely new interface. I’ve managed to do that in the past few weeks, however I have a TON of footage to go through yet. I still have more from my trip to SEMA as well as my work with Shell earlier this year to get to. On top of that, I’ve been working on edits for new VManuals that are way overdue. I’ve actually been sitting on that footage for the past 3 years because I haven’t had time to edit it. Couple all of that with my normal day to day with ETCG and 3 video postings a week and it leaves very little time for much else. In fact, I had been working my butt off recently so that I could take a little time off around the holidays. The way things are looking now, I’m likely going to have to cut that short if I want to get through this workload.

That’s not all. I’ve also been asked to do a series of videos starting in January on cabin air filter replacements. I don’t plan to take over the Friday repair videos with this, but I may add another ETCG video to the week to cover them. There will be 30 videos in all. The good news is, once this series concludes I’ll have the funds needed to work on the Fairmont. I’m hoping to complete that project by the end of 2015. If all goes to plan, I’ll start work on the Fairmont in April/May 2015.

Add to that I’m trying to get some editing help from Cameraman Brian. This requires me building an edit station for him to use so he can help with future edits of my videos. This also takes time and resources away from my work week. In addition, I’m hoping to do a LOT more video in 2015 and if things keep going the way they are, I’ll need all the help I can get so getting Brian set up is also a priority.

I hope this gives you some insight into why I haven’t been on the forum as much lately. Don’t fear though, as there are many helpful people here on the forum that can help with the issues you might have. In addition don’t forget about the FAQ page. Much of the information I would type out to your questions is contained on that page. In fact, I often refer many questions to those pages for more detailed information. Just to make things easy, here’s a link. http://www.ericthecarguy.com/faq

I will continue to work on my videos for the foreseeable future but I’ll also stop in to help on the forum when I can. I appreciate your understanding.

Eric, I think all of us appreciate all the work you put into the videos and web site. Given what you described, I think we can deal with your short absence in order to make improvements that we will all benefit from.

Good. Was worried you got sick. But getting busy is a lot better than getting sick

                Stay dirty and stay busy!

By staying busy for 50 years, I now have the luxury of watching eagles soar around Appalachian ridges during Fall.

                          No worries boss,

That is what the forums are here for — so we only need intermittent supervision 😛

There is a few different types of people out there, and I think most of us already knew you were the type that is ALWAYS busy with something, and not something trivial either!

We appreciate all you have done for the home fix it guys out there!

Also I’d say I still think you are, in general, more active in the forums than typical site owners.
                          We are grateful.

Everyone needs some downtime. Your growing your business a lot this year coming, not to mention these past few years. These are good problems to have, especially in a slow economy. 🙂

Keep up the great work Eric! I can’t wait to see the Shell info. I only will buy Shell gas for my vehicles as I’ve noticed a big difference in towing performance with my 07 Tacoma 4.0L and not using it.

Honestly that video has stalled out. It’s gotten to the point where it’s been a long time since the video was shot and many other projects keep piling up. It’s hard to say when a Shell video will happen. It’s a shame really, Shell’s been very good to me and I’d like to give something back.
