I have a 2011 Hyundai sonata with button issues. It had a common sonata issue with the electric steering assist coupler being worn, so for about a month, the steering wheel vibrated rather seriously. When the vibrating started, the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel stopped working when the vibration started. The buttons still light up, but they are not functioning. I replaced the coupler and that is good again.
I have removed the airbag and got a good look at the molex for the steering wheel buttons, it looks good. I unplugged it, all looks good. I also made sure none of the individual wires are coming out of the connector, and again they are all good.
I don’t have a power probe to use. I did look at the connections under the collum and they look fine too.
I was unable to remove the switch assembly, so pointers there would be helpful.
Any ideas what can be going on here?
The buttons I speak of are the trip reset and the cruise control. They light up with the rest of the instrumentation but do not function.
