Yes, it requires cartridges and vehicle specific connectors for cars prior to 1996.

it’d be used on a 1990 Jeep wrangler, 1994 and a 1999 Cherokee, 2001 dodge Durango and a 2001 Saturn and a 2003 ford torus if it works

You will either need a vci cartridge and appropriate make connectors + odbii connector and personality keys. Or appropriate domestic carts + appropriate connectors + keys

Wow, you’re really stepping back in time. IIRC, their last model year update was 2004….maybe 2005. It’s not impossible to find them still for sale. They are OBD I and OBD II compatible. But, it’s on you to find a complete adapter and personality key set with that old brick. eBay has plenty of them to go around and it’s looking like you’re going to drop at least $300 on something decent. Finding the newest cartridges might be a little tough though.

I know there’s a mt2500 laying around in storage at work. I don’t know much about it except to say that it’s there. I’ll talk to the boss and see if he’d want to sell it.

What was the first year these things where made? i really am stepping back in time. Its going to be primarily used on a 1990 wrangler with the old school tbi single port injection. It doesn’t have a check engine light (witch really sucks) and its a pain to figure out whats wrong with out at least a scanner of some kind. i made contact with a gentleman that has one in the case with the original manuals. some connectors not sure how many is all there. Not sure either on what carts come with either. He’s only asking $100 and were meeting up Wednesday to make a deal. I can not wait!
