Small block and big block

Hi, I am not american, I watch a lot of YouTube clips and see “big block…” or “small block…..” mentioned all the time. I do understand it’s to do with the block size, but what constitues a big block or a small block? Is there cut-off measurements?? (please don’t laugh ha).Would people mind explaining what it all means? I have tried reading about it and looking it up on-line etc, but it’s a bit confusing.
