1997 Chevy Blazer 4.3L with 153,400 miles. I have been noticing black specks about 1-2mm in size showing up floating in my coolant. I find them in my radiator and in my over flow. I also notice the inside of my over flow container has black soot on the sides and a few black specks as well. I changed my coolant out and flushed the entire system including the heater core last fall and installed new coolant. I’ve had the vehicle for about 5 years and last fall was the second coolant change I have done. Last fall I also noticed some of the black speks too but they have returned again. I switched when I first bought my blazer used to the green coolant from the dexcool. I have seen too many bad things happen from the dexcool.

I am not experiencing any over heating, engine performance issue and no loss of coolant or leaking from anywhere. I am still running all the original coolant hoses thought. The coolant is still nice and green and looks great aside from the black specks and residue inside the coolant overflow tank. Thanks k

With out seeing it first hand.
Might suggest you do a exhaust gas test on the radiator.
