      Hello everyone
Hope all is well..Has anyone done transmission cooler lines on a 2007 chevy silverado 1500 classic? I purchased new lines they go to radiatorfrom transmission..they are the lines with the clips in them, at the transmission it actually looks like transmission would have to be lowered to gain access where they go in tranny..
I actually gave it some thought of cutting them near tranny somewhere and flare the ends and do same with my new ones flare ends and hose them..
What have you experienced with those?
      Thankyou in advance…
      Mike

Yeah, those cooler lines are a PITA to replace. The best way is to lower the trans by removing the rear mount and support. When you cut and join any type of lines there is always the potential for leaks.

Those clips are tiny so be careful if you remove them. There is a special tool for them but I have never seen one that works worth a crap. Make sure the new lines are clipped in tight and that the plastic disc if used is pushed all the way on to keep them in place.

          Thanks for the reply bud,
Yeah id hate to cut the lines but sure did seem more logical if u know what I mean..
Of course remove drive shaft also right?
How much access did it give ya lowering tranny?
Front exhaust get in the way?
Thanks a bunch, sure looking forward to that one..LOL..
U can use a pick tool on those clips quite well

I dont know if you vehicle is 4×4 but if it’s the case I usually take the front diff just about out. I take the axle bolt out and keep only teh lower bolt on the lef side to the diff rotate and you get all the clearance require to do the job.

It would be a good idea to invest in the 3/8 jiffy tight aluminium tool as it gets the job done in no time (considering you may use it again or just sell the tool once done).

If you have 3 line rather than 2. get the grill remove. I ve seen apprentice trying to get the clip out when they think they would save time working on the vehicle as is.

If you can avoid to cut the line, do so .. as they will show you the way to put them back in. That job actually looks worst than it is. The PITA is the line on the transmission if you have big arms.

            Kevin!

Yes its 4×4 , but I do not see hiw dropping front dif can help me gain access to where lines go in tranny..
              It is a 2 line
I will check out this jiffy 3/8 tool bud
              Thanks a bunch

I can’t provide specific information on this issue but I have dealt with those lines on a Tahoe of the same vintage. You can see in this video series. If nothing else it can give you a better look at what you might be dealing with. Here’s part 1.

Yea, in fact they’re still hooked to the transmission sitting in the back of the shop. If you don’t get this sorted I’ll see if I can figure out how to get to them with that unit the next time I go to the shop.

                      cool Eric

I’m sure i will get it sorted bud.. No doubt lowering tranny seems to be the best option, Heck even the front exhaust pipe kind of gets in the way..
Just have to find time to work on her, That one is my truck.. You know our vehicles are always last..LOL..

                      Thanks
