Hi I have 2002 Silverado it has the 4.3 engine in it is getting up there in miles has around 170000 on it here lately it has been what seems to me is “dry start” after sitting over night
only pecks for a few seconds and then goes away but it does it very loud
my question is what can I do to help this problem? has new oil change with Lucas
oil additive has not helped any suggestions will be appreciated

It may be the oil filter your using. The anti drain back
        may be poor.

          PECKING?

As in tap tap tap noise? That goes away, initially fast enough, slowly taking more and more time? After sitting overnight? Getting worse the colder it is outside?

Google “GM piston slap”. Have fun.

I read online a k@n is a great filter[/quote] I use NAPA Golds. K&Ns are alright if you like paying more for a filter. Motorcrafts are good too. Just don’t use a FRAM, they ain’t what they used to be.
