Hi, I am working on a 2000 honda civic LX 1.7 Sohc with automatic. complaint is vehicle was being driven, presumably cruising at high way speeds but not sure, when the check engine light turned on and then the car shut off. after waiting for a tow truck, they pulled code and it was p1298 and car would start but shut down almost immediately. they cleared the code and the car ran and was able to drive on trailer. dropped car off at my house and we cleared the code again and the car would start but wont stay running more than 3 seconds then shuts off. definitely getting fuel, computer must be shutting off spark. check engine light has not returned. the code talked about a problem concerning the charging system and maybe an open groud circuit, wiring issue, or worn Electic load detector. had alternator checked to verify its good. did not find an issue with alternator grounds. checked all fuses. looked at timing belt and doesnt appear to have jumped teeth at all. thought maybe it had something to do with the immobilizer, and maybe the alternator is attached to that ciruit and will kill the car incase it is stolen. kinda puzzled on this one. any advice would be great
