Hello guys so I have no proof of this but I know for sure my car was messed with.

I want to a local Firestone for a PA state inspection. I failed for a worn sway bar link. I do agree it was worn and they wanted 150 to change it. I told them I would do it myself and they charged me for the inspection. When I told them I would do it myself the service manager gave me a dirty look. The tech looked at my car for another 20 min. I left and went to work, the car ran fine. When I started my car after work it idled like crap. At a stop light it completely shut off. I was not able to start it unless I had the throttle in a hair or more…. I got it home and the next day I checked everything, every sensor, cleaned throttle body, iac, maf, gas, spark…. the whole 9 yards. Then I thought what if they messed with my idle screw…. that damn screw was a most to the lowest point. I spent all day and at least 1 extra hour getting my idle close to spec. I am absolutely pissed. I now need to return all the crap I bought.

My question is when I go back to the shop can I get my money back for the inspection or what. I absolutely don’t want them near my car.

      Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Simple solution, don’t go back to that shop unless you are required to. If that means paying for another inspection, so be it. Take your money elsewhere.

IMO I wouldn’t go back to that shop. If you do I would specify to them not to touch it except for plugging the cable in and the brake/tire check.

Sounds like Penn’s state regulations are crazy. Imagine an inspection dinging you for a loose sway bar link?
