When my car is cold (first ~1km of driving) as i accelerate (not too harshly or anything – ~3000rpm) i get either a slip or delay between first and second gear – as it changes it jumps in revs (but no speed up, this is only for a second)
Once the car warms up it seems fine, even on really steep hills from a dead stop no problems, no hesitation between drive/neutral/reverse
My question is, will this get worse in colder months? (Im in Australia – its summer at the moment), should i do another flush or flush via the cooler lines (pump out the old fluid) and use a different brand/spec atf? (Genuine fluid?) Or double the Lucas stop slip additive?
Im just concerned if the transmission is on its way out, am i killing it faster by pushing it that hard when cold? Or am i just worrying about nothing?
The fluid and filters (both internal and external) were recently replaced (200,000 KM service) – I’m using full synthetic fluid (meets “Subaru ATF-HP” spec), the old fluid was nasty (almost looked like engine oil) but the bottom of the pan/magnet was clean, no shavings, usual buildup on the magnet, and i used Lucas stop slip.
