On my 03 Accord EXV6 Sedan the shift cable seems tight and sometimes hard to put from park to Drive. I have figured out that in order to shift it out of park smoother I lift up just a little on the gear selector and as I press the button and move the gear selector out of park the result is. It shifts smooth out of park and in to drive and in the other gears perfect. My question is should I adjust the shift cable. since I suspect its out of adjustment.

see if this helps. You may want to check the cable and parts for

There is no adjustment on the cable. Well that is to say it should not be adjusted. That said, I don’t think and adjustment would have any effect. You may have a problem with the cable itself or perhaps something got spilled down into the console. One way I isolate this problem is to remove the cable from the transmission and try to move the shifter. If it moves easier then you know it’s not an issue with the transmission. If it’s still difficult then you know the issue is in the cable or console. I’d start by checking the cable and then go to the console after that.

Thanks Eric ill see if its the console first before i assume its the shift cable. Sorry to get back to this post late im in college and i havent had time to be here on the forums as much. But ill check in here and there when i have time. And its amazing that the EricTheCarGuy has been answering my car questions its a honor. Thanks again Eric keep doing what doing
