Started having a shake in my seat and steering wheel going 55. I had a tire balancing and tire rotation but it still shakes. My tires are in good shape. Any one know what it could be? Maybe a bent wheel? Bad steering cumponent?

Yes, a bent wheel is a possibility. I have had that happen on a BMW 3 series before. Fortunately, the wheel was repaired and have not had a problem since.

And, sometimes tires just refuse to be balanced. I had a set of Goodyears like this. I think some tires aren’t symmetrical or something.

This is the time of year for potholes and bent wheels and broken tire treads. Check your wheels for dents and wobble. If the wheel bottomed out and is dented its quite likely that the tire is toast too. Don’t ask me how I learned about this, last week.

Bent suspension components do not cause vibrations. Rotating assemblies do. If they use stick on weights on your wheels it’s possible they came off. It’s not uncommon and can cause the condition you have. It’s the most likely explanation in my opinion. More information here.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Eric, checked all my tire weights and they’re all good. Im thinking its a bent wheel. Im having my mechanic look at it today and hopefully that’s the problem. Thank you for the imput. 🙂

Good luck and keep us posted. You still might want to check out that article I posted for you. There’s information in there on driveline issues that might also come into play. Either way, keep us updated.

Thank you to everyone who read my post. Found out what the issue was today….. It was an overload of “Fix A Flat”. It was causing my tire to wobble. LOL 😆 ERIC THE CAR GUY should make a video about unexpected things to look for if your car has a problem 😆

That should have showed up when they tried to balance the tire. You can’t balance tires that have fix-a-flat in them. Anyone that balances tires should know that. Every time you check the balance the weight comes up differently when the tire has fix-a-flat in it. The reason is because the liquid keeps moving confusing the balancer.

                        Thanks for the update.

Yeah I agree with you. That should have been addressed the first time. Im just happy to have it figured out. Thank you for the information.
