My 2004 Honda Accord LX 4 cyl. shakes side-to-side when I accelerate between 3,000 and 3,500 rpm. The car has 178,000 miles on it and the driver’s side CV axle needs to be replaced but I don’t think that would account for the shake I am experiencing. I am thinking motor mount.

      Anybody have experience with this?

If it was a motor mount you would feel the shaking when accelerating from a stand still. The easy way to check that is to open the hood an let some one to rev the engine. If you see it moving by a huge amount it maybe the mount but I’d say it is that axle and if i where you I’d replace it ASAP.

Thanks for the reply. I just read through the FAQs on this and it says the same thing. Start with the axle, then maybe the other axle too. If that doesn’t do it then look for other issues.
