Need some advice. My 07 odyssey has 170k miles with the original serpentine belt tensioner. The belt was replaced about 110k. What should I do? I want to replace the belt again, but just wondering if tensioner should be replace as well.

Can someone here post the factory service instructions for doing tensioner and belt?

      thanks

Autozone.com has some helpful instructions. You can find them in the “repair help” section after you create an account. I wouldn’t worry about changing out the tensioner if it’s not making noise. On the other hand, it won’t hurt anything to change it before it goes bad.

In this pic is what needs replaced. Just get the kit and replace it all.. The reason you do the water pump is that the bearings can seize and screw everything up royally… It is simple to do when you are doing the timing belt…

He’s replacing the serpentine belt not the timing belt. You so crazy.

Before taking the serpentine belt off, I’d listen for bearing noise with the engine running. A mechanic’s stethoscope would be ideal for this. When you rotate the tensioner to remove the belt, rotate it to its stopping point and make sure the spring doesn’t hesitate to unwind the arm. If you’ve got room with your human size hands to get into the engine bay, try to push and pull the pulley towards and away from the block. You’re looking for play that might eventually allow the tensioner to start rubbing into the engine or slip the belt.
