      Hi guys,
My 2001 Toyota sequoia got c0205, c0200 and c1223 code on the engine light. I checked them are Left, Right Speed sensor and ABS control malfunction. I didn’t do off road trip or hit something. The engine light just turned on when i was parking the car and left it on idle, after a while it was on. I did some research online, there are no too much info about speed sensor problem. I hear the speed sensor usually last very long time, and they are not cheap. I got two codes of both side sensors, are they really both broken in the same time? Do you think should I need to replace them or maybe harness lose? Is this easy fix or better bring it to a shop?

      Thanks!

C1223 is a red-herring… Just means an error code in the ABS System is activated… The C0205 and the C0200 are showing issues with the front right and front left speed sensors respectively… Since this happened how you say it did, it seems unlikely both went bad at the exact same time… I recommend to check all your wiring starting from the speed sensor itself and work back to the computer module… look for any broken or frayed wires… also, look for any loose or bad grounds…

Thanks Karl! Every time you can give me good advice. I never work with computer module, do you have any recommend links can learn? And where is the speed sensor located?

Speed sensors are by the steering knuckle (around the wheel) and have a wire going to them… they run off input from the CV axle.

Start at the wiring of Speed sensor and move backwards and follow it… Your ABS computer is probably (don’t quote me) behind the dash… I doubt it is a computer issue because you are not getting any rear ABS codes, so my guess would be a problem somewhere between the wheel sensor and the firewall…

It can be difficult to verify speed sensor operation unless you have a scan tool that can read the signals coming out of them. If you can get your hands on one of those, great. If not, start with a good visual inspection as ToyotaKarl suggested. It may be something obvious. Also, if you have recently installed new tires that are a different size this can also come into play.

Keep us posted on your progress.

I went to my local repair shop this week. They check the code is only showing P0446, which is bad vacuum switching valve. They charged me $255 for this repair. I got these c0205, c0200 and c1223 code in advance auto shop. Their staff read from their code reader. Anyway, there is no engine light now. But I was still confuse with two totally different result. When advance auto people plug their reader to my car, I saw my ABS light was flashing, and then, they gave me these codes. After that, I never see the ABS light on again during my driving.
