      Hi Guys,
My 2001 sequoia driveshaft needs lubricate. When I make full stop, feel like someone kick my back. I was thinking the transmission problem in my previous topic. After a lot cool people helping, I know the driveshaft needs lubricate, and Karl send me the type of the grease I need to get, PTFE Teflon Driveshaft Slip Yoke Lubricant Ford Motorcraft XG-8. I have hard time to press it into the zerk fitting. And I can find this grease for grease gun.
After, I saw some people use Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease for their 4 runner. I guess it should ok for my sequoia. In the first hundred miles this grease helps, later on “someone start to kick my back again”.
In the first time I almost pump 100 times to fill the driveshaft! After a hundred miles I pump 20-30 times to refill. If I don’t refill, someone will kick me.
Do you think I use a wrong grease type? Or other problem with the driveshaft? And everytime in the last couple pumps, I can see the inner tube of the driveshaft was jacking out by the pump pressure.

It’s very unlikely that the driveshaft not being lubricated is causing that issue. Honestly, that sounds more like a transmission issue. More info on transmission issues here.

As for lubricating the drive shaft. BTW just regular axle grease should work fine.

Good luck and keep us posted.

          Hi Eric,
If this is a transmission problem, what will be? The transmission is shifting smooth, no noise, and no code. Could you give some hint to figure out the problem? Big Thanks!

people don’t usually relubricate toyota drive shafts, they usually just replace them. doesn’t sound like you have a transmission problem either.

By your description it sounds like the transmission is not disengaging gears correctly. You might try changing the fluid and filter to see if the problem changes or goes away. More info on solving transmission problems in the article link I posted for you.

I did change transmission fluid and add one bottle lucas slip stop about 1 month ago. There was no much improved for this issue. Gear shifting is better. I will read your articles again if I can find some more info.
                Thank you Eric!
